What is woodcut?
Originated in China, Woodcut is one of the oldest methods of printing that was used first on textiles and later on paper. Woodcut is a relief printmaking technique where a design is cut into the wooden block or surface with sharp tools following which the wooden surface is inked with a roller and then impressed onto paper. The actual printing can be done by hand or printing press.
Woodcut was popularly used as one of the visual art mediums mostly to create posters, book illustrations, etc.
