About the event:

Sagar Vihar is a hidden gem on the Western shore of Thane Creek. It offers a panoramic view of Thane Creek. There used to be a small port here where hovercrafts used to run. Sagar Vihar Garden Attracts common urban birds. The creek that adjoins the garden is also used by waders such as plovers, curlews and flamingos. 

This is the best season for observing migratory birds such as flamingos.  The trail will be focused on the biodiversity of the area.

Charges: Rs. 250/- includes, naturalist expertise only. No charges are applicable for kids less than 4 years of age.

The trail is open for all age groups. Children below the age of 12 yrs should be accompanied by at-least one of the parents.

Please note: Transport from station to wetland and back is not included in the trail charges. Also, please reach meeting point on time as, tide and time doesn't wait for anyone :-)

Distance: About 2 to 3 Kms in total on mixed terrain

 Things to carry:

• Cap
• Sunglasses
• Water (2 liters minimum)
• Camera and binocular (optional)
• Wind-cheater and/or umbrella
• Wear fully covered and comfortable clothes and shoes functional to walk on non-concrete trails

About the leaders:

 Dr. Shreya will be leading the walk. Both, she and her co-founder Gauri have been conducting such programs for more than eight years. This event is conducted through their joint venture – OikoEssence which is focused on creating awareness about environment around us.

Dr. Shreya is a true nature enthusiast. She has completed her Ph.D in ethanobotany and working in the field of environmental awareness for the last 13 years. She believes that  change is slow process but a strong step for better environment and education will certainly bring the change in lifestyles for adapting environmental friendliness.

Gauri is a botanist and naturalist based out of Mumbai. Having worked at World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF India), Gauri has expertise in bio-diversity (birds and plants species) and has extensive field experience in organizing nature camps.
