Vasota Fort Jungle Trek & Camping

A serene location for both trekkers and camp lovers, Vasota trek through the jungle concludes with a camping location where you can sit by a campfire surrounded by a landscape of sparkling clear lakes and ridges of mountains making it perfect for spending quality time in the cold evening weather with a group of energy filled people and travel buddies, the evening is the beginning of another fun-filled experience. The peaceful boat ride takes you to the island Meth-Indavali was the trek start from. Koyna backwaters remain popular for their blue waters and clear skies, so be ready to capture some spectacular shots.

Vasota Fort (also called Vyaghragad) is located in the Satara district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It was famously defended by Tai Telin a mistress of Pant Pratinidhi a killedar of the fort when he was captured. Vasota fort is attributed to the Kolhapur Shilahara Raja Bhoja II (1178–1193) of Panhala. Vasota always remained with Marathas, Shirkes & Mores in 16th century & then incorporated in Swarajya by Shivaji Maharaj in 1655 during the conquest of Javli. Shivaji Maharaj named the fort “Vyaghragad” (Vyaghra – means tiger), owing to its difficult natural defense. After Shivaji Maharaj, the brave Maratha Bajirao Peshwa carried on the Swarajya mission of ousting the Mughal invaders from our country.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 0 – Friday Night

Meet the Lead @Borivali National Park @10:30PM

Rest pickups on the way

Day 1 (Saturday)

04:00 am Reach Bamnoli and rest in the bus until the daybreak

06:00 am Wake up call and freshen up

06:30 am Breakfast served and a basic round of instructions followed by a short introduction.

08:00 am Reach boating point. (Approx 2 hours of boat journey through Koyna backwaters)

10:00 am Reach Met Indavali and start the trek by completing forest formalities in 30 mins

01:00 pm Summit the fort and explore it.

01.45 pm Packed lunch served

02.45 pm Start descent

04:15 pm Start the return journey via boat towards Bamnoli village

06:00 pm Reach Bamnoli and freshen up for a cup of tea

07.00 pm Tent allocation (On Twin or Triple Sharing or depending on group requirement)

08:30 pm: Dinner (Veg/Nonveg)

09:30 pm: Onwards campfire, karaoke night, stories, etc

Day 2 (Sunday)

06:00 Wake up call and freshen up

07.30 am Post breakfast, swim /fun time at the river bed

11:00 am Time to say goodbye to awesome experience and leave for Mumbai

Rules:

● In mountains & jungles, smoking/spraying deodorants attract honeybees and one has to face a dangerous “honeybee attack” where survival of the person is difficult, hence smoking/deodorants is strictly prohibited.

● Drinking alcohol is strictly prohibited. If found will be expelled from the group.

● The leader’s decision will be final and binding.

● Sahasi Sahyadri reserves all the right to change/deviate/cancel the plans without prior notice.

● Telephonic confirmation for booking is mandatory; if unable to contact us then send a text message and we will call you back.

● Please do not carry handbags or jholas or sling bags on treks.

● Please do not carry or wear any valuables, ornaments, jewelry, etc. If carried, then we do not take any liability for the same.

● Trekking Shoes (Action Trekking or Coaster CTR Shoes are recommended, Avoid Forclaz/Quechua/Running/Other Sports Shoes for Treks in Maharashtra)

Refunds Or Cancellations:

● If cancellation is done prior to 10 days of outing 75% will be refunded.

● If done prior to 3 days of outing 30% will be refunded.

● After that, no refund will be provided.

● If the event is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, participants have the option to adjust the paid amount with any forthcoming event or ask for a complete refund.
