From a pandemic at its birth to another one 100 years later, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya has weathered many storms and only come out stronger. There is perhaps no greater example of a conversation between Bombay’s past and Mumbai’s present than the restoration of this majestic museum.
The museum’s story has been at the heart of Mumbai’s life since the early 1900s. And even 100 years later the remarkable histories of the two remain intertwined; as symbols of cultural unity, of progress, and grand entities that have always steered their own course.
Join CSMVS, Kala Ghoda Association and Avid Learning on a virtual journey of this landmark conservation project. The evening will reveal the four-part restoration plan, the challenges of repairing a heritage building in the midst of a pandemic, operating a green museum and what it takes to pull together different eras and regions under one roof.
