THE AD X JSW PRIZE FOR COMTEMPORARY CRAFTSMANSHIP IS BACK

APPLICATION CRITERIA

1.Submissions should be based on a body of work.

2.The individual, artisan, designer, or institution applying for the award must be a resident of and have their primary practice in one of the following countries: India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, or Bhutan.

3.The work must represent a contemporary approach to craft.

4.The quality of workmanship must be superlative.

5.The work should be predominantly handmade, which includes the use of hand tools.

6.In case the process is not handmade in its entirety, the mechanized processes must be supportive or ancillary in nature. For example, the electrical wiring of a lamp or the use of an electric kiln in pottery.

7.There should be an element of preservation of a traditional or heritage skill.

SELECTION CRITERIA

1.Your name, region, name of studio, names of the members involved.

2.Title and year of the piece, with a description (500 words at most).

3.Details of the craft(s) used. Please include any information on materials, processes or techniques.

4.Please highlight any social, cultural, material, and/or human impact, if applicable.

5.Photographs of the objects / process / project are necessary.

Please mention if your entry is in collaboration with a brand.

Note: Any misinformation, inappropriate or incorrect accreditation/attribution, or plagiarism will immediately ban you from this and future editions of the prize and AD’s coverage of your work.
