This is a one day trek. General brief itinerary:

We will leave from Pune, Deccan area, at around 5 am

We will do breakfast during our journey to the fort at around 8 am

We will start trekking the fort at around 10 am

We will reach the fort top at around 12 pm

We will see the fort and nearby sights till 3 pm

Lunch will either be on the fort or at the base of the fort if we come down early

We will leave the fort for Pune at around 5 pm

We will be reaching Pune by 8 pm

रायरेश्वर हे सह्याद्री डोंगररांगामधील एक ऐतिहासिक व प्रेक्षणीय स्थळ आहे.

या पठारा वरील रायरेश्वर मंदिराला ऐतिहासिक वारसा लाभलेला आहे. हे मंदिर प्राचीन आहे. हिंदवी स्वराज स्थापनेचे संस्थापक छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज यांनी वयाच्या १६व्या वर्षी म्हणजेच २७ एप्रिल १६४५ ला येथेच स्वराज्याची शपथ घेतली होती. त्यामुळे या मंदिराला मराठा रियासतीच्या इतिहासात याला खूप पवित्र स्थान आहे.

रायरेश्वर पुणे जिल्ह्यातील भोर तालुक्यात असून या पठाराचा विस्तार १६ किलोमीटर लांब पसरला आहे. रायरेश्वर मंदिराजवळ असलेल्या सर्वात उंच टेकडीच्या माथ्यावरून चौफेर दृश्य दिसते. उत्तरेला तुंग, तिकोना, लोहगड व विसापूर हे किल्ले दिसतात. तसेच प्रतापगड, केंजळगड, कमळगड, विचित्रगड व मकरंदगड दिसतात. येथे ५-७ विविध रंगाची माती आढळते. पश्चिमेकडे नाखिंदा टोक म्हणजेच नाकेखिंडीचे रोमांच उभे करणारे दृश्य पहावयास मिळते.

Raireshwar Fort Trek: All You Need To Know

All of us know that this fort is filled from top to bottom with history. This fort is situated near Bhor which is an area in the southwest of Pune district. If you visit this place during the winter or monsoon season, chances are you'd fall in love with the beauty it has to offer to you. The feel of untouched nature, as well as breath-taking views, are factors in themselves. This place is really great for someone who is looking to get away from his daily life for a single day. However, if you decide to visit Kenjalgad and Rohida, it will take you two days to cover everything.

Route From Pune to the Raireshwar Fort

You can use any of the two routes to get to this fort. The first route is via Wai. The second is via Bhor. If you are planning to visit by a large vehicle, then we recommend you not to catch the Bhor route as this route goes through a ghat that's very narrow and doesn't even have a road made up of tar.

Route Via Wai to the Raireshwar Fort

This route is longer comparatively. However, larger vehicles such as tempo or bus can fix without any problem on this route. This route is as follows:

Pune -> NH4 -> Shirval -> Khandala -> Wai -> Dhom -> Raireshwar Fort.

If you are still confused about the directions, we recommend you to add your second destination to be Wai in Google Maps.

Route Via Bhor to the Raireshwar Fort

This is the route that will come up as default one in Google Maps when you enter your destination to be Raireshwar Fort. You will need to get on NH4. And while on NH4, you need to head towards Satara. You will come across the first toll at Khed Shivapur. After you move forward, take a right turn after "Prati Balaji's left turn", which will take you to Bhor. This turn is also popularly known as Bhor Phata. After you reach Bhor, we recommend you to make your way towards Korle village. This village is located about 30kms far from Phata. This village will be the base village where your trekking journey will start.

What's The Difficulty Level And Are There Any Tips For Me?

This trek won't be hard for anyone. Rather, it will turn out to be really simple and adventurous. However, we recommend you to carry enough water for you as the base village doesn't consist of too many shops and you won't be able to find packaged drinking water anywhere near you.

If you are planning to spend your night at the fort, then we recommend you to carry a tent along with you as there are no accommodation facilities anywhere near the fort.

More About Camping at the Raireshwar Fort

People who visit this fort usually love to make their way to Rohida and Kenjalgad as well. If you ask the villagers, then they will love to help you with the firewood. If you are visiting this place during the winter season and planning to spend your night here, then you should carry blankets as well as sleeping materials along with you as it gets pretty cold here.

Did you know that the oath of Swaraj was taken by Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaji right at this fort? Hence, this fort is considered to be of great historical importance.
