SOLANG SKYULTRA 2022 - THE DNF RACE | 8 OCTOBER, 2022 | SOLANG VALLEY
The Hell Race brings you the infamous DNF Ultra we love to call Solang SkyUltra. A grueling and brutally testing race through the rugged, jagged and mean single track technical trails of the Solang Valley, this is one of the most ego -altering ultra trail marathons of the world. It not only humiliates the runners but also breaks them to help rebuild stronger human beings.
For starters, Skyrunning is an extreme sport of mountain running above an altitude of 2000 meters where the incline exceeds 30% and the climbing difficulty does not exceed Grade 2. The term was first coined by Italian mountaineer Marino Giacometti in the 90’s. Skyraces are the most popular mountain races in the world and are governed by the International Skyrunning Federation.
The Solang SkyUltra brought the much-required mindset shift to the ultra running trail community in India. We are grateful to announce the opening of the registrations of the 07th edition of the Solang SkyUltra 2022.
Apart from the usual 30, 60 & 100K races, The Solang Sky Ultra also hosts the Mt. Patalsu Challenge. Mt. Patalsu is a 4,000m peak in the Solang Valley with a beautiful view of the Manali valley far into the distance. The total distance up and down the peak is 14kms. However, it gets a little tricky for the inexperienced near the top of the climb.
The Indian ultra-trail running community is certainly holding its ground in the country, much like what we would like to see. Join us in this ultrarunning extravaganza in the first week of October in the Solang Valley, 12kms from Manali.
