Shivneri fort being the birthplace of great Maratha warrior Shivaji Maharaj has a special importance in many people's lives. The primary cause of this closeness is because a major part in school history consisted of Shivaji Maharaj. This ancient fort has a prolonged history wherein the fort initially belonged to the Shaka Empire and it was defeated by a Satvaahan king Gautamiputra Satkarni in order to control the trade route of Naneghat.
