The Artist
Listening to the sounds of Sarod since childhood, Drupad has had a special zeal towards music ever since. He commenced his formal training at a tender age, under the guidance of his father, Bhargav Mistry. At a later age, he was introduced to Ustad Amjad Ali Khan for further training. Apart from the guru shishya parampara, he has undergone formal training in sarod from Surnandan Bharati, Kolkata and has obtained a gold medal in the final year. Drupad has given numerous performances in various concerts in the country and abroad such as England, France, Hong Kong, Greece, Scotland The fringe festival, South Korea world music festival, and Italy. In Italy he had the privilege to perform in the Indian consulate and numerous other public concerts. Drupad has composed various musical pieces and some have been broadcast as signature tunes and background soundtracks films and festivals
Neeraj has been passionate towards percussion from an early age. He commenced his training at a tender age of five, under the guidance of Pandit Ramkrishna Bose. He has a keen sense of aesthetics in rendition of the instrument. Neeraj has given numerous performances in various institutions. He has participated in Saptak competition Ahmedabad as a Yuva kalakar and performed in Maharana Kumbha Sangeet Parishad Udaipur, Dhrupad Samaroh Udaipur, Jaipur Kala mahotsav and other programmes at Hyderabad, Pune. Apart from Tabla, Neeraj also plays “Hapi Drum”, Hand pan, Khadtal and Bhapang. He has developed a unique and very aesthetic combination of Tabla and Hapi Drum. By profession Neeraj is a Product Designer, and his passion is Tabla playing and music.
