A 3 DAY 2 NIGHT ADVENTURE & EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING CAMP

Thank you for choosing the SUMMER ADVENTURA experience for your child. We are confident that it will be an engaging, memorable and life changing experience and a learning opportunity full of excitement and fun. Protege's summer programs are planned around ADVENTURE and EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING. They are nothing like regular camping holidays but are more about facing challenges, stepping out of the comfort zones, working in teams, overcoming fear, developing EQ, effective communication and critical thinking. The programs are designed for multi directional benefits.

The camp will help students to develop leadership and behavioural skills through adventure activities. There will be adventure activities such as rock climbing, rappelling, jungle trekking, survival training, self defence training, commando net, slack line, zip line, etc. which will help the students connect to nature and also over come their inner fears and come out of their comfort zones.

The camp experience will encourage the participants to think out of the box and reinvent their approach to day-to-day challenges.

CAMP DATES & TIMINGS

From 6am on 10th May to 6 pm on 12th May 2019

CAMPSITE & SETTING

The base camp is set in Salsons Retreat (www.salsonsretreat.in) near Thatipudi. It is a beautiful and well fortified getaway set in the midst of nature.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES

The camp is designed for 'medium level' difficulty. Accommodation will be provided in concrete buildings as in typical resort setup, minus the luxury of similar space. Participants may also be accomodated in camping tents if required. The setting is hygienic and of reasonable comfort. The facilities and resources will be shared. Please do appreciate that the facilities provided are also part of the overall program design and not to be confused with regular holiday facilities and can never be that same as one expects at home.

ACTIVITIES

The camp activities may include all or some of the activities listed as follows. Hill trekking, knots & lashes, survival training, self defence training, zip line, slack line and other challenges. Participants will be transported to the various locations from the campsite to conduct the activities as required.

INHERENT RISK & SAFETY

Camping out and exposure to wilderness settings like weather, terrain, inspects, etc are all part of the nature experience. While we have adequate supervision and security, there is always that element of inherent risk in all adventure related activities.

PROTEGE always has a first-aid and common medication centre located inside the camp. Basic first aid equipment and medication is always at hand when we head out to external locations for various activities.

The services of an exclusive Doctor-on-call is available within 30 minutes from the camp site. The nearest modern hospital is about 40 minutes from the campsite.

COMMUNICATION & UPDATES

We do not have the provision for parents / guardians to contact the children directly while they are engaged in a camp activity. The designated Camp Coordinator may be contacted by calling or leaving an SMS in the event of an emergency. It is advisable to allow the children to adapt to the camp situation drawing from their own mental capabilities. In the event of an emergency however, the Camp Coordinator may facilitate a participant to speak to or meet the parents / guardian in specific situations.

PREPARING THE CHILD FOR THE CAMP

While today's children are very quick to adapt, still our experience suggests that children whose parents have set the following expectations in advance get more value out of the experience. We want you to help your child prepare for the program by familiarising with the following.

  • SUMMER ADVENTURA is all about experiential learning through adventure activities also. It has a structure, schedule, rules and decorum to be followed. While it promises loads of fun and excitement, it is not a luxury camping holiday.
  • There are shared facilities and resources and we need to keep everybody's interests in mind. Allotment of accommodations will be the sole prerogative of the Camp Coordinator based on his/her understanding of each participant's mindset, needs, etc. in the best interests of the smooth running of the camp.
  • While camp food promises to be wholesome, interesting and varied, it is definitely not pizzasa or burgers or any other type of fast / luxury food. Water and non-aerated juices will be abundantly available throughout the day to keep the participants hydrated.
  • Participating in team work, helping and camp duties are part of the overall camp experience and each team will have to take responsibility for the work assigned to them.
