ROOP KATHAK

Roop Kathak is an annual showcase of students of Riddham Kathak School, Yelahanka New Town. They will present Kathak in its traditional format in Tala Teentala and Tala Roopak. Riddham's founder and mentor Sampada Pillai is a disciple of late Guru Dr. Rohini Bhate and along with her senior students she will present Guru Rohini ji's much cherished choreography Roop Kathak in tala Teentala. The show will feature presentations from students in Prarambhik (beginners) level to Visharad level. Invite artist Shri Karthik Krishna will begin the show with a tabla recital. Kathak invitee artists Smt. Ashka Desai and Smt. Swapna Takavade will present a Kathak duet. The evening promises to be one that will enchant the audience with the rhythmic wizardry of the Jaipur gharana and the delicate nuances of the Lucknow.
