About the Race:
Pune UltraMarathon is a brainchild of FreeRunners with a goal to provide a unique ultra running platform.
We are proud to be the First Ultra Marathon in Pune and Maharashtra state.
Introducing the 9th edition of the Pune Ultra Marathon – an exhilarating test of endurance and a celebration of athleticism. Mark your calendars for December 2nd and 3rd, 2023, as we embark on a journey that promises to push boundaries, unite communities, and make a lasting impact.
The Pune UltraMarathon was created and organized in 2015 as the first UltraMarathon in Maharashtra and served as a forum for all runners to compete and push their personal boundaries. The route is designed through the villages of Loni-Kalbhor, and Wadki through a beautiful canal mud road, trails across vegetable farms and fruit orchards, as well as flower fields with a stunning backdrop of the mountain ranges of the Western Ghats. The event venue for Start and Finish is Innovera High School at Loni-Kalbhor.
The route is challenging because it is mostly made up of trails and there is little to no shade, especially along the trails. The run was designed by runners for runners, and the event's planners made sure to provide all the necessary support while also keeping in mind the difficulty of the task at hand.
There are NO age-based categories in this race, which is open to both male and female runners (an open category race). However, there is a minimum age requirement for entry, which is 21 years old or older on race day. For pacers, the age is 18 years and above. This run is a straightforward race for experienced runners who have completed full marathons or other ultra-events and are dedicated to completing a successful UltraMarathon. Additionally, the race is ITRA registered, and each event has ITRA points, as explained below. The race is also a UTMB World Series qualifier.
