Pt. Birju Maharaj (1938–2022) was a legendary Indian classical dancer and guru, renowned for his contributions to Kathak, a North Indian dance form. A recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, he was celebrated for his emotive storytelling, intricate footwork, and revival of Kathak on global stages.
