Come June, or the month of Ashada, the town of Puri in Orissa, lies in anticipation of one of the biggest and most fascinating traditions of the world - 'Jagannath Rath Yatra'.
We at Studio Amoli, welcome you to take part in celebrating the spirit of this event, in our best offering of an art workshop, where we will be painting The Lord Lord Jagannath and his siblings in Madhubani style.
The Jagannath Temple, which has fascinating stories of its origin, and dates back to the Puranas, is a sacred site where the Lord Jagannatha ( Vishnu), resides with his brother Balarama and Sister Subhadra.
Every year , the magnificent and huge idols of them are taken out on a procession, to visit their birth place- the Gundicha Temple. The procession is flocked by over a million devotees and telecast online.
However, with the Covid situation and extreme need for Social Distancing, the centuries old tradition faces un-certainity. We are doing our bit to keep the spirit of the tradition alive.
