About Destination 

Ratangad fort is 2200 years old. The rock carved gates, caves and water tanks indicates that this fort was built by "Satwahan" in 200BC. 

This fort is origin of river "Pravara/Amrutvahini" This fort was captured by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in his time. It is situated in Ratanwadi which is it's base village and overlooks the Bhandardara.

The natural rock formation has an emerging tip at the top known as 'Nedhe' or 'the eye of the needle'. There are many wells on the top each near the four gates of the fort - Ganesh, Hanuman, Konkan, Trimbak. The Fort at the top of hill provides its spectators a view of the Sahyadri range that can be compared to no other, a true paradise of the photographer. The trek is a stimulating one and will keep you on your toes throughout the journey while the surrounding scenes mesemerize you.

 

What to see at Ragangad Amruteshwar Temple at base village, Bastion on the fort, Trambak Darwaja, 'Nedhe' or 'the eye of the needle' etc.

09.00 AM Reach Ratangad & explore the Ratangad Fort.

11.30 AM Start Descending the Ratangad.

02.00 PM Reach Ratanwadi.

03.00 PM Lunch in a Local home.

04.00 PM Start return journey

06.00 PM Evening Tea on the Way.

11.30 pm Reach Pune
