Mir Kashif Iqbal:
Mir Kashif Iqbal is a Kashmiri singer-songwriter, guitarist, and music producer now based in Toronto, Canada. He is best known for being the co-founder, lead guitarist and co-songwriter for the Bangalore based rock band Parvaaz which was touted the ""Most Exciting Band in India"" by Rolling Stone Magazine in 2018. After a decade of touring, recording, and writing with Parvaaz, where Kashif played over 500 live gigs, in 2021 Kashif parted ways with the band and started his solo journey with the release of his Album “Peak Wave Descent” followed up by the Live EP titled ""Adaptation"" in 2022. Most recently Kashif released 3 live singles for his new Toronto based rock band ""Hangul"".
Kashif’s playing and songwriting are influenced by classic, indie-folk and progressive rock infused with Urdu and Kashmiri lyrics/poetry. Kashif is currently working on his second solo LP, producing for other artists and performing in and around Toronto as a trio.
This gig will be specific to Depot 48 as it will be Kashif's first performance as a trio in India and the first time he will be performing some of his new material. He will be joined by Kunal Netrapal on Drums and Adam on Bass.
Gaekhir Republik:
Gaekhir Republik is one of a kind three-piece progressive folk rock band from Kashmir, consisting of Sarfaraz Javid on lead vocals, Suhail Ahmad on bass, acoustic guitar, and vocals, and Mohsin Hassan on lead guitar and vocals. The band released their debut album, Mandnyan Shaam, in October 2023 to great critical reviews and fanfare. Prior to the album release, they dropped two singles in 2022: 14th Lunar and Fikri Pyos.
This gig will be specific to Depot 48 as it will be the first time the band plays a full set since the release of their debut album and will also feature Kunal Netrapal on Drums and Mir Kashif Iqbal on Guitar.
