Korean Cultural
Centre, India is organizing an evening filled with harmony adorning the
presence of critically acclaimed Austrian pianist, Helmut Deutsch and the well
renowned South Korean soprano singer, Sooyeon Lee. The event will be graced by
H.E. Mr. Cho Hyun, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India. The program
will be held at the FICCI Auditorium, TansenMarg, New Delhi on the 21st of
April, 2016 for a resplendent classical concert, ‘Liederabend’. The curtains will
be raised at 7 p.m. The show will comprise of a classical juncture of the two
musicians from the different realms of music industry adjoining to produce an
indepth compose of musical symmetry.

The
program will witness the famous music compositions of various prolific and
influential composers of the classicalera encompassing Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart,Franz Schubert, Richard Strauss andGustav Mahler.Ms. Sooyeon Lee will perform ‘New Arirang’
by Dongjin Kim, which is a quintessential Korean folk song and is considered as the unofficial
national anthem of South Korea.
Helmut Deutsch is a
globally eminent Austrian Classical Pianist, specialized in chamber music. He
taught piano, composition and musicology at Vienna Music Academy and was
awarded the Vienna Composition Prize in 1967. He began his career as an
accompanist working with IrmgardSeefried, and Hermann Prey for more than twelve
years. He was the professor for
lied interpretation and
performance at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Munich from
1986 until 2011 and is the guest professor there and several other German
Universities in duration. He provided master classes throughout Europe and
Japan and is a juror at the ‘BCC Cardiff Singer of the World’ competition.
Deutsch performed in recitals at the Salzburg Festival and indulged in many
collaborative recordings which include the complete vocal works of Johannes
Brahms.
Korean Saprino singer, Sooyeon Lee graduated with distinction from the University of Music and Performing Arts, where she obtained a Master's degree in opera under Beverly Blankenship and Peter Marschik. She secured the second position including the viewers’ choice at the 2015 ARD Singing competition wherein she performed with the BayerischerRundfunk Orchestra. She joined the ensemble of Staatstheater Oldenburg for the 2016-17 season and will be heard during the season as Dew Fairy, Marie, Woglinde and Frasquita. Ms. Lee has won numerous competitions, including The Berlin International Music Competition, The Gian Battista Viotti Competition, Pavarotti Giovani Awards, Beaumarchais International Music Competition in Vienna and the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg. She sang ‘Brahms' "Liebesliederwalzer" in a lunch concert with the Berlin Philharmonic.
