Vasota Fort is situated in dense forests surrounded by river. It is also known as Vyaghragad. It’s believed that a disciple of Vasishtha, a sage by the name Agasti, came to reside on a mountain on the banks of river Koyana. He named the mountain after his mentor. Later the mountain was fortified and converted into a military station. This fort is so remote that rarely there used to be any military action here hence it was used as resting place for army which has returned from the war during Maratha era.

This trek is counted as one of the best treks in Sahyadri. Being situated in the Koyna WLS, it offers amazing surprises for wildlife lovers. The trek through the dense forest makes you forget the distance you cover.

ITINERARY:

DEPARTURE :-

TREK SCHEDULE :-

Day 1:

>Start journey from pune at 9.00 pm after all pickups.

>Reach our Beautiful Campsite

>Setup tents, Bornfire and have some rest.

Day 2:

>Wake up call at 6.30 am

>Get fresh up and breakfast

>Get ready for trek till 7.30 am

>Take permission from forest department and start boating for one and half hour.

>Reach to the center of vasota forest by boat at 9.00 am.

>Start most beautiful and scenic trek towards new fort vasota,

>Reach to the top of vasota fort at 11.30 pm.

>Visit babukada cliff (sahyadri’s second highest cliff)

>Packed lunch break at 12.00 pm

>Explore Vasota fort

>Reach to the base at 4.00 pm

>Start return journey at 4.00 pm via boat for 1 and ½ hour.

>Reach our Camp site at 5.30 pm

>Dinner

>Start journey towards pune at 7.00 pm

>Reach pune at 10.00 pm ( plus minus one hr)
