Bagbazar, a region in North Kolkata which stands distinct by virtue of its cultural advancement of Bengal, besides a great flourishing of Bengal Drama, and an experiencing of a wave of Nationalism, as a direct antagonism towards the colonial rule . One of the central hubs to the ever-rising ‘Babu culture’ in Bengal, it is known for its many attractions, the most notable of them being the Bagbazar ghat, and the others being Akhrai, Half-Akhrai and the like. Besides, that the region was dotted with reminiscences of great Bengali men, is evident from the various antiquated, mostly worn down stores that exude heritage, valuable historical data, but more importantly, from those familiar sentiments of sheer nostalgia. The citadel of Bengal aristocracy, it was inhabited by ancient families such as Boses and Pals, long before the population in India before the Britishers migrated here. It also became a vastly populated area long before the Englishmen occupied Sutanuti.
