We are back with the 2nd edition of the Hell 480 Challenge - a Virtual Hell challenge where we ask you to run 480 KM in 30 days. Last year, we launched this challenge as an alter ego of the Hell Ultra - a race that guarantees a gruesome purge of human spirit and endurance.
In the pandemic struck first edition of 2020, we had 547 runners taking up the challenge from over 30 countries. The way this idea got us all connected and hooked to take up this challenge overwhelmed and reassured our belief in the choices we make at The Hell Race.
Just before we start with the Great Himalayan Running Festival in June, for the period of 1st of June 2021 to 30th June 2021 - this one month, we are with you in the Hell 480 Challenge. Your place, your time, your run - all we care about is to keep you busy exploring yourselves on this ultra challenge. We monitor the data you share through your Strava Activity logs and the finishers get a chance to grab the Hell race T-Shirts along with Medals.
What to do?
You have to run 480 km in 30 days(1 June - 30 June).
How can I participate in the Hell 480 Challenge?
Register for the challenge online and you will be eligible to take part in Hell 480 Challenge.
How will your activity be tracked?
We will track the distance of every participant through Strava. So it's mandatory that you log in all the data of your runs on Strava. You have to log your cadence option all the time. Treadmill or indoor runs recorded using GPS watches using indoor or treadmill mode, and for which you have a public activity link that shows distance, time, pace, and splits will be acceptable for submission.
What is the last date of registration?
31st May 2021 is the last date of registration.
Who all will get the finisher medals?
Only participants who registered with a medal option and finished the challenge are eligible for it. You first got to run 480 KM, though!
Can my run be disqualified?
The Hell Race can reject any entry which has suspicious GPS data (straight line outside normal run route, unrealistic high pace like sub 3 min/km pace at any time during the run, etc)
Submission of any ride or data using a vehicle will be invalid.
The Hell Race has the right to make any decisions for disqualifying a participant if the participant is considered to have taken any external help in running the distance (like using a cycle or any other vehicle) or cheated in any way.
Can I submit data for past dates?
We will be releasing the leader board every Monday and Thursday. For that, we will be taking all the data till Sunday and Wednesday midnight. You have to submit the data before that. If any of your runs is within this timeline goes missing, we are going to consider that run in the future.
How will the leaderboard be maintained?
There will be 2 leaderboards. One is for maximum distance in 30 days and another for minimum run taken to finish 480km distance.
Just to let you all know, the cut-off time of the actual Hell Ultra is 120hrs i.e. 5 days. Only 3 runners have completed the distance within the time limit so far at the race.
