Most people are on a budget when setting up a new apartment from scratch. I asked suggestions of students pursuing interior designing courses in Delhi like BBA in interior designing and diploma in interior designing about setting up a new apartment, and they were happy to supply me with certain ideas. General Apartment Decoration: Window treatments are a must. Don’t leave the windows bare. Go with blinds or simple curtains and a curtain rod. Choose a simple neutral shade for the blinds and add a second curtain panel in a geometric print or bold colour. Swap out boring, basic light fixtures and replace them with pendant lights, a more stylish overhead light fixture, wall sconces, table lamps, a floor lamp or battery-powered, LED under-cabinet lighting. Entryway Decoration: Get a narrow table, cabinet or bench, which will be the focal point of the entryway and a repository for keys, handbags and mail. Get a mirror and hang it over your table or bench. Mirrors do a great job of expanding small spaces. Add wall hooks for jackets and backpacks. These can also hold smaller items like umbrellas, hats and canvas bags.

Living Room Decoration: A sofa is the life of the living room. Invest carefully in it and choose the biggest one you can fit in your living room. Get a coffee table. You’ll bless the day you took that decision. You’ll need that extra table top space to put food and drinks on. Wall art will increase the aesthetic value in your living room and make it look lively. A collage of framed photos or a well-designed rug works nicely too. A TV cabinet is of course a living room essential. But it’s also a great furniture piece for the living room. Make sure the cabinet has lots of drawers and space. Bedroom Decoration: Invest in the best and most comfortable mattress you can afford. Don’t hold back. The importance of a comfortable mattress cannot be stressed enough. A headboard looks cool and is a must-have for modern bathrooms. The headboard completes the look of your bedroom like nothing else. Get a small side table or a traditional nightstand on each side of the bed. Like I said before, you’ll bless yourself for getting so much table top space later. The bedroom closet should be spacious, with multiple shelves and divisions. Also make sure that it looks stylish, and adds visual appeal to your bedroom.
