"Prince of Qawwali: Dhruv Sangari Bilal Chishty is a renowned vocalist, lyricist, composer, & Sufi scholar. Trained in Hindustani classical by Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan, Smt. Shahana Bannerjee, and Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan, he later mastered Qawwali under Ustad Meraj Nizami and the legendary Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan sahab.
He leads several bands, Rooh Sufi Ensemble being one of them, & has performed globally, collaborating with iconic artists such as AR Rahman, Amit Trivedi, Nitin Sawhney, and Mannan Shah. His credits include Bollywood, Coke Studio, & international festivals like Womex and SXSW.
Founder of Ektara India (UNESCO recognized), Dhruv has taught at NYU, Princeton, & other institutions. He also serves as co-founder/director at the Naadvistaar Foundation in Delhi, he has continued spreading Sufi-Bhakti syncretism & mystic messages of peace & love through his music."
