About: DEVKUND AND PLUS VALLEY

Plus Valley Camping: You can easily spot this valley from the Tamhini Ghat as standing true to its name it looks like a giant plus. To reach this valley one has to trek for about 9 kms and pass through dense jungles and two rappelling points which is a treat in itself. During the monsoon the entire trek is surrounded by small streams and waterfalls making the path misty and something straight out of a film. The trek is regular walking and you get to enjoy the beautiful view of paddy fields, waterfalls and canyons. The experience will put you in the ‘sab moh maya hai’ mode instantly.

Devkund: It is the confluence of three waterfalls and is said to be the origin of Kundalika River. It is about a three-hour trek from base village along the dam backwater and through forest to reach this place known as ‘Devkund’. A major part of the trek goes through some semi-dried forests with the river running parallel and sometimes crisscrossing through the route.

Rappelling would be of around 250 fts and supposed to be completed in 2 parts followed by trek to Bhira village.

ROUTE: Pune > Pirangut > Tamhini > Dongarwadi > Plus Valley/Devkund

PICK UP POINTS: To be shared 1 day prior to trek on WhatsApp group (Usual pick points: Eon, Viman Nagar, Vishrantwadi)

Day 1:

• First pick up at 10:00 AM (time may change per location)

• Lunch on the way

• Reach base village Dongarwadi and start the trek towards Plus Valley by 3:00 PM

• Set up tents by waterbody and enjoy dinner

Day 2:

• Have the tea and breakfast and start gearing up for the rappelling

• Start off Rappelling by 10 AM

• Start the trek towards base village Bhira for Lunch

• Begin return Journey by 4 PM and reach Pune by 8:00 PM

(Please note: All the timings mentioned above are based on the previous experiences from the trek. Timings may differ. RNT TREKKERS will NOT be responsible for any deviation from the schedule given above)

BOOKING POLICY:

• Prior confirmation with payment is required by 4th December, till 7.30 pm

• Seat will be cancelled if payment not received by 2nd December

• The participant receives a payment invoice via WhatsApp within 24 hours of successful booking

• Water Bottle: A saviour in many ways

• Munching Items: Trail Mix, Dry Fruits, Fruits, Laddus, etc.

• Daypack or Backpack: Travel Light & Organized

• Trekking Shoes or Hiking Boots: Walk the talk on your Hike or Trek

• Medical Kit: Personal Medicines, if any

• Extra Clothes & Shoes: 2-3 Pair of Extra Clothes and shoes or chappals

• Sleeping bag/Blanket/bedsheet - Must

• Miscellaneous: Swiss Knife, Torchlight or Flashlight (night treks), Cap/Hat, Sanitizers, Masks, Sunscreen, camera, towel, personal care, etc.

DO’S & DON’TS:

• DO NOT throw Garbage & Plastic or litter around or near a water source or on a trek trail

• Use Call sign “Hello” “Oyee” incase if you are not in visible distance to the group

• Alert group against any falling object / rock - Recommended - call sign “Watch Out”

• Avoid wandering alone or click Selfie’s near the edge of an exposed valley

• Do not eat/pluck any fruits from the forest without trek leader’s consent as it could be poisonous

• Do not provoke or harm any animals, birds or honeybees

• Do not jump into a water body without trek leader’s permission
