About the Walk:
Mattancherry has been synonymous with the cosmopolitan mix of traders, travellers and merchants that make the heart and soul of Old Kochi. Three dozen communities who speak 15 different languages peaceful co-existence with each other in a 3 square kilometer radius.
The small town gets lively and bustling as the evening sets in and we go out to explore the food traditions of some of these communities as they come out for their afternoon tea & snacks.
What will you taste:
We will start from the Konkani quarter with some chai followed by street snacks and specials only found with the Konkanis.
We then enter the Mappilla Muslim quarter and try out some of their “naalu mani kadikal” with some specials only found in their area. This area will also feature non vegetarian fare and meat.
Finally, we wind down with dessert from the Gujarati community and water it down with a special drink from them.
