Special education enables the inclusion of children with special needs in regular classrooms and the provision of support services to these students to address their differences and needs.
The objective of this session is to introduce everyone to the basics of special education. Once a student takes up this class, they will be able to understand career opportunities available for them.

Ramalakshmi Kannan is a special educator and a thought leader in HLC International, a social incubation center, She is also the Chief Convener of Elina, an incubation of HLC that works towards creating an equitable society for all. She is involved in HLC where her focus is on enabling the best inclusive practices that promote the holistic development of the child from preschool years to adolescence. She also works with Parents on empowering them to create a sustainable living for children with needs.
She is an international trainer for inclusive practices and has conducted training and workshops in Bhutan. She is an International Resource person for Perkins University, USA. She has a decade of experience working with and learning from children and young adults with and without special needs and with families which have enabled her to understand variations in development, potential, parenting styles and concerns hands-on. She has a background in ICT from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and Special Education from the University of Madras.
