BENGALURU MIDNIGHT MARATHON 2019 - DECEMBER 7&8, 2019
Bengaluru Midnight Marathon is an event hosted by rotary Bangalore, its an event done
to raise money for charity purposes, BMM is hosting 13th edition this year.
The Bengaluru Midnight Marathon (BMM) was founded by Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor in 2007 to support various deserving charities across India. With its unique chosen hours, it is Asia’s only Midnight Marathon. The concept has captivated people resulting in a growing number of participants, from over 20 countries, and 23 States in India, each year.
Starting with just 2,400 runners, entrants for the BMM 2019 are expected to exceed 15,000 which will make the BMM one of India’s largest annual sporting events.
BMM is an entire festival in itself. Post the launch Press Conference, it begins with a pre-marathon One Mile Run for CXOs as a run-up to Race Day and multiple activities for children and pets. The BMM is widely seen as a major social occasion by entrants, their families, and supporters. On the day of the race, the evening commences with a rock show surrounded by a sea of cultural performers entertaining the crowd and a flea market. The festive atmosphere runs through the night and into the morning.
PARTICIPANTS WILL GET:
- Timing Chip and E-certificate for 10K/Half Marathon/Full Marathon
- Bib for all participants
- Refreshments
WHY BMM?
Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor Charitable Trust is the primary charity that is affiliated with this event. Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor Charitable Trust uses the funds collected at the Marathon for its various charitable initiatives such as supporting spine surgeries, eye surgeries, brain and heart surgeries, polio vaccinations, education, mid-day meals for government school children, environmental projects and more. Some of the projects:
- Work with 7 Government schools in the area (covering 2000+ kids)
- Work with villages to construct toilets. 150 toilets built in B. Thimmasandra Village.
- Conduct blood donation camps (last year collected over 2000 units)
- Sponsor corrective surgeries for people with permanent vertebral deformation
- Work with the local population in arresting glaucoma and other eye ailments
- Plant trees in and around Whitefield (cumulative 50,000+)
