The Banganga Heritage Walk
Silently existing, Banganga is the longest inhabited area of the city of Mumbai. A stone stepped, fresh water tank, dotted with temples, quaint lanes, and secret slivered entrances to the tank provide for picturesque views of the this area. This tank is witness to rituals of birth and death and all other facets of life. Banganga somewhere torn between history and modernisation, is a mini-Banaras with the soul of the Ganges in the heart of the city.
This heritage walk takes you through a journey of the rise and fall and the continuous existence of this religious precinct with architectural marvels, stories from the Ramayan and so much more. For a good end to a busy Friday, come to Walkeshwar and see how your perception of the towering area changes on seeing this quaint locality.
