About the Event

Welcome to the 3rd Edition of National Adventure Racing Championship "Adventure @ Mechukha"

NthAdventure along with Arunachal Pradesh Tourism invites you all to "India's FIRST Border Adventure Race" the 3rd National Adventure Racing Championship as part of the prestigious Adventure Racing World Series – Asia Series in MECHUKHA, Arunachal Pradesh - Adventure Race like NEVER BEFORE.

National AR Championship is an annual event and a QUALIFIER for ARWS Asia Championship. This year's Asia Championship is scheduled to take place in Malaysia in October 2025. 

About host location "MECHUKHA" - A world untouched by time

High in the Himalayas, situated amid breathtaking beauty, lies the enchanting hamlet of Menchukha. Cradled 6,000 feet above sea level in the eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, Mechukha (also known as Menchukha) offers a captivating blend of nature, culture, and adventure.

The name ‘Menchukha’ itself whispers stories of the land.

In the local dialect, Mechukha or Menchukha, which is made of three words: “Men” means “medicinal”, “Chu” means “water” and “Kha” means “ice”. The melted glacial water flowing through the valley is believed to possess healing properties.

This hidden gem, tucked away in the West Siang district, is a haven for nature lovers. Shrouded in pine trees and bushes, it is one of the lesser-explored valleys in the region, preserving its immaculate beauty with snow-capped peaks, a pristine lake, and the mighty Siyom River (locally known as Yargyap Chu) carving its way through the landscape. Menchukha Valley offers a variety of adventure activities, making it an exciting playground for those seeking an adrenaline rush.

ARWS ASIA SERIES FORMAT

• Premier Mixed teams of 4 (3+1 or 2+2) is the only category to be eligible to win a free entry to the ARWS Asia AR Championship 2025
• Teams may substitute members with a team roster containing a maximum of 7 team members for the year.
• The log will be updated after each event, see points allocated on LINK.
• This event will count towards a team’s ARWS ASIA Regional ranking.
• National AR Championship 2025 is a championship event for India, and winner gets FREE entry into the Asia AR Championship - 2025

RACE CATEGORIES:

Full Course Approx 180 Kms - 36 Hours:

• ARWS Team of FOUR (Mandatory, ONE Opposite Gender)

Short Course Approx 30 Kms - 6 Hours:

• Team of TWO - Mixed
• Team of TWO - All WOMEN
• Team of TWO - All MEN

AWARDS & PRIZES**

The winning team of the Full course at the Adventure @ Mechukha 2025 will receive a FREE entry to the ARWS Asia AR Championship - Malaysia (Premier team Only)

Full Course Cash Prize Pool:

• WINNER: Cash Prize of Rs. 7,00,000 (USD 8,000) + Sponsored flight ticket to the Asia AR Championship 2025
• 2nd Position: Cash Prize of Rs. 5,00,000 (USD 6,000)
• 3rd Position: Cash Prize of Rs. 3,00,000 (USD 3,000)

Short Course Cash Prize Pool: (All Categories)

• WINNER: Cash Prize of Rs. 50,000
• 2nd Position: Cash Prize of Rs. 30,000
• 3rd Position: Cash Prize of Rs. 20,000

All finishers will receive an exclusive Memento / Medal / Trophy

Every team will be given an Event Ranking regardless of Team Combination

All ARWS standard premier Teams will obtain an ARWS ASIA Ranking

Taxes Applicable**

Team format

• Teams of 4 members for Full Course (Approx 180KM) / Team of 2 for shorter course (Approx 30KM)
• Teams can consist of members of any combination: All Males and/or all Females
• The official category is a premier team of 4-members with ONE FEMALE or ONE MALE (2+2 or 3+1) who will qualify for Asia Rankings.
• For this race, there will be a competency check to confirm your team entry. Refer below to know more.

Race Distance

• The race will cover approximately 160 to 180 km’s (Final distance will be confirmed soon)
• Top teams are expected to finish the course in 20 hours with the last team in before 36 hours (Rest excluded)
• All teams should be able to finish the race by Sunday 20th April 2025.
• The route scouted so far comprises 75 to 85% of mountain biking, 15 to 20% of trail running / hiking, and 10 to 15% of kayaking (final distances will be confirmed closer to the race date for registered Teams only)
• 100% Orienteering (Navigation)

Race Disciplines

• Mountain biking & Hike a bike – Teams should be prepared for a range of riding including single track, steep hills, gravel roads, mud roads, hair pin bends climbs, downhill, tarmac roads and of-course hike a bike.
• Trail Running / hiking – This Will involve traveling by foot through rugged terrains, tarmac roads, farmlands, mountains and valley's etc
• Kayaking – Kayaks, Rafts, paddles, and safety jackets will be provided by race organizers, athletes are welcome to bring their own paddles, PFDs. These kayaks are very stable and suitable for novices
• Rope Works - Teams should be prepared for a range rope activities such as Zipline, Rappelling, River crossing.
• Orienteering – Orienteering is an extremely important part of the race. The course is not marked, and teams are required to navigate using a map and compass.
• Local Surprise Elements - Remember Adventure Racing is more than endurance.

1. Full course Category, Early bird Entry Fee – Rs. 25,000/- USD. 295 (Per Team – Team of Four Members)
2. Full course Category, Regular Entry Fee – Rs. 35,000/- USD. 415 (Per Team – Team of Four Members)
3. Short course Category, Entry Fee – Rs. 3,000/- USD 40 (Per Team – Team of Two Members)

• Food where it's not mentioned
• Additional Taxes and International transfer charges (USD).

Cancellations & Refunds:

• No refunds once event entry fee has been paid
• Member substitutions are allowed until 31st, March 2025 with the organizers’ consent only. No additional charges.
• In case of cancellation there will NOT be any refunds however, transfers of entry fees to any future event upto December 2025 (Any difference amount to be paid by the teams)
• Should the race be moved due to any reasons, all entries will be moved to the next date chosen for this specific race (No refunds at any point)
• No cancellation, however, teams can sell their entry to another teams. The transaction happens between the teams and to be notified.

RACE MAPS

• Maps supplied can be topographical as well as a google maps.
• Maps may be given out as the course progresses *.
• It is recommended that teams bring large zip-loc bags (A4 Size) to waterproof maps.
• If the map is lost or damaged, it will NOT be replaced by the organizers.
• Stationery materials for preparing routes on the map are needed: different colored pens, cello tape, scissors, etc.
• Teams will use a map to locate checkpoints in an order to complete the route.
