Session #1: Agile QA: Exploring the Journey from Traditional Tester to Agile QA

Agile development methodology uses an iterative and incremental planning approach that requires changes in how the development team operates, not different with the role of the software tester. In this new scenario, Agile QA emerged, whose central goal is the same as the traditional tester to deliver a product of higher quality, but with different precepts and techniques.

Key Takeaways:

- Chronological history of QA

- Characteristics of the traditional Tester and their relationship with developers

- The mindset of Agile QA and its main goals

About Speaker:

Tailiny Pereira, QA Automation Engineer at Worten

Tailiny Pereira has been navigating a 12-year journey in the technology field, starting her career in software development, change management, and technical support. Nine years ago, she discovered her passion as a software quality professional. During this time, she contributed to various projects, using different technologies and automated testing, coordinating development and quality teams, always promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement.. Her professional path included an in-depth study of the differences between roles and mindsets of QAs in traditional and agile methodologies, highlighting the benefits of Agile QA for software quality, the topic of her thesis in the Specialization in Software Quality Engineering. In addition to her role as QA, she has also worked as a Scrum Master and taught programming and software quality. Her goal is to help and share how teams can achieve maturity in their processes and ensure high product quality. Tailiny is passionate about teaching not just how to find bugs, but, more importantly, how to prevent them.

Session #2: API Testing Automation with Postman

APIs are essential mechanisms in software communication, using a set of widely utilised definitions and protocols. Postman is a very popular tool that facilitates API testing, offering an intuitive graphical interface for sending requests and viewing responses. Although many QAs use Postman, they do not always explore its full potential. We will uncover the secrets of Postman for test automation, starting from basic API concepts to more advanced functionalities. We will learn to create collections, use variables and random data, execute automated test runs, and generate API documentation. Additionally, we will discover how we can use AI in Postman and how Newman contributes to automated test execution.

Key Takeaways:

- Understanding what an API is, the main HTTP methods used and their purposes

- Creating a collection in Postman, exploring organisational features for better API test management

- Understanding how and when to use variables to make tests more dynamic and reusable, including the use of random data

- Exploring features for automating tests in Postman

- Learning how to use artificial intelligence to conduct tests in Postman

- Discovering the documentation feature in Postman, which allows for the automatic generation of test documentation

- Using Newman to automate test execution and generate detailed reports.
