A NIGHT OF APPRECIATION, PHOTO BOOK LAUNCH & PHOTO EXHIBITION FOR NI KETUT ARINI
“Candra Matu” means in Balinese when the moon rises and what better way to describe such a beautiful and meaningful event than for the one we are creating for this legend of a person.
Ni Ketut Arini is what we can call a living legend. She emphasises what it means to be such a good and pure soul. For over 60 years, she has graced us and the Balinese people with her amazing skill and education of the absolutely mesmerising Balinese dance. She performs still to this day as well as teach the younger generation this amazing dance.
This is so important to help keep this culture alive. In these modern times we live in today, it’s vital that we never lose sight or forget these traditions that define what makes the people of Bali so different and special.
People like Ni Ketut Arini are the kind of people who give back to the people because of the love she has for her art. She wants to share it with everyone, to the younger people so they can carry on this wonderful legacy, this way the Balinese dance lives on forever.
On January 25, we would like to celebrate Ni Ketut Arini with an appreciation event that will consist of a photo exhibition of her as well as the launch of a photo book created by Yan Palapa. The night will also have a lovely dinner as well as a performance by her and I Wayan Purwanto and the newer generation of Balinese dancers as well as a gamelan performance. Lets commemorate this truly outstanding woman by showing her why she is so important to the community and for all she’s given to the people of Bali and the rest of Indonesia.
